Timing is Everything

pa040567As you are planning your wedding how much thought have you put into what time of the day you will begin your festivities? For years the typical wedding ceremony began in the late afternoon followed by an early evening wedding. This provides a great opportunity to have both day and evening pictures and a wonderful way to close of the night. It also gives the bride time to relax and prepare for the events ahead.

But have an evening wedding isn’t your only option. Morning and afternoon weddings can be just as elegant and offer a differen variety and style of event.

Choosing to have your wedding early during the day has its benefits. You have the possibility of saving money in various areas. Many vendors, including the rental hall and caterers offer their services and facilities at a cheaper rate when you book an event that happens on Friday night or Saturday morning. They can do this because it still leaves them available to handle an event on the ever so popular Saturday night.

You also will save on the costs of food. Many caterers offer a breakfast or lunch menu that is often far less expensive then your average dinner.

Here is a sample of a wedding that we helped to coordinate that occurred during the late morning and early afternoon.

The wedding ceremony began at the church at 10:00 am and continued until 10:45 am. The bride and groom then took a few moments of personal time along before heading outside for pictures with the bridal party and immediate family members until 11:30 am. Meanwhile the rest of the guest made their way to the hotel that was 3 miles down the road for the cocktail hour. At 12:30 the bridal party was introduced at the reception and lunch was served by 12:45. On the menu was salad to start, soup then chicken &  potatoes. I make it sound so basic here but that is because it was. It was a very simple yet elegant meal that was inexpensive and presented very well. The entire wedding was over by 4pm giving family and friends plenty of time to go home and relax and still have time for themselves in the evening.

Becasue of the extra time that you now have in the evening it is now open for mroe possibilities. You can have your close family members join you and your new husband for a dessert fellowship afterwards at a local restaurant. Or how about you and your friends all go for an evenign of ice skating.
